Start with the constraint
Understand the product, people, risk, and operating context before choosing a solution.
About Slipway Logic
Slipway Logic is an independent software engineering consultancy. We help organisations build software, improve platforms and get technical work moving.
Small enough to stay close to the work, experienced enough to see the wider system.
Why it exists
Technology companies often reach a point where the next step needs more than another pair of hands. The system has to become clearer, the risks need naming, or a promising idea needs a dependable route into production.
Slipway Logic exists to provide that senior engineering perspective and practical delivery capacity. Software, platform, and commercial awareness belong in the same conversation: a technically elegant solution is not useful if it cannot be operated, afforded, or owned by the team that inherits it.
Clients work directly with the engineer responsible for delivery. When a project needs expertise beyond the core engagement, appropriate specialists can be introduced openly.
Engineering principles
Principles are most valuable when they shape the small decisions as well as the large ones.
Understand the product, people, risk, and operating context before choosing a solution.
Make boundaries, ownership, failure modes, and trade-offs visible to the people using them.
Choose a useful slice of work and make the next decision easier rather than promising certainty.
Documentation, tests, and context are part of delivery—not work left for someone else.
Automate bounded work with evaluation and human review where judgement still matters.
Good advice distinguishes evidence, assumptions, unknowns, and decisions still to make.
The working relationship
You work with the person making the technical decisions and accountable for the quality of the work. That keeps communication direct and makes it easier to adjust the shape of an engagement as understanding improves.
We can work independently or alongside founders, CTOs, engineering directors, product leaders and existing delivery teams. The engagement can be a focused task, a complete project or ongoing engineering capacity.
